Are You Interested in Writing For The Navigating Mom?

At The Navigating Mom, we love to feature helpful and relevant articles from fellow travel bloggers who want to share their expertise with our audience! We believe that there is a mutual benefit from doing so, and by featuring guest posts we can better answer our reader’s questions on topics we are not experts in.

We do have guidelines that must be followed when submitting an article for publication to ensure the article meets our audience’s needs and is in line with our style and other content on our site.

These guidelines are exclusively for travel writers and bloggers, we do not accept guest posts from companies looking to promote a product or service. If this is your intent, please check out our work with us page.

What We Are Looking For

We’re looking for guest posts that relate to our current blog topics and that will be helpful for our audience. Our blog covers sustainable, outdoor family travel.

Our articles are typically:

  • 1,500+ words
  • Long form content
  • Contain original images (please do not pitch if you cannot provide original, high quality images for the content).
  • Are human written, not AI generated

Our current blog topics include:

  • USA Based Content-focused on outdoor destinations that are good for families, including but not limited to road trips, USA national parks, and state parks. Although our main focus is on outdoor destinations, we will also consider city guides.
  • Canada Based Content-focused on outdoor destinations in Canada that are good for families. Again, we prefer outdoor destinations but will consider city guides.
  • Mexico & Caribbean Based Content-focused on outdoor destinations and activities in Mexico and the Caribbean.
  • Outdoor safety topics for kids-tips and guides for families on outdoor safety topics, including basic first aid, water safety, plant safety, and wildlife safety (that adds to content already on our site).
  • Outdoor Activities-outdoor activities including camping, hiking, water sports, etc. These can be specifically about the activity, or can be focused on a destination that features that activity, but it should cover a topic not yet featured on our blog (or contain an original spin).
  • Sustainable Tourism topics-sustainable lodging, ethical wildlife tourism, green transportation, conservation, cultural tolerance, etc. We are open to anything that is not already covered (or that you can put a unique spin on).
  • Sustainability at home topics-While our blog focuses on travel, we also place high importance on sustainability and responsible living at home. If you have an idea for sustainability at home (such as how to conserve water at home), we would love to hear your idea!

Guest Post Requirements

  • A unique, helpful, and relevant topic that is not already covered on our site (or that has a unique angle/spin that we do not have).
  • 1,500+ Words (shorter may be accepted if the content is helpful and answers our audience’s questions).
  • An intro paragraph that answers the user’s question/intent quickly.
  • 5-10 Original Images (Horizontal images are preferred).
  • Original content that is not published elsewhere on the internet now or in the future.
  • Original content written by you, not AI. AI can be used to help guide ideas/outlines, but it should not be used to write the actual content.
  • Keep SEO Best Practices in mind when writing the article (we reserve the right to make minor changes for SEO purposes-which will be reviewed with you before publication).
  • Structure your article using headings and subheadings (we will provide a general outline after your pitch is accepted).
  • Write in short paragraphs.
  • Do not plagiarize. We will run the content through a plagiarism checker and reject the article if plagiarism is suspected.
  • We have strict guidelines when it comes to animal encounters and do not recommend any unnatural encounters (zoos, aquariums, swimming with dolphins, etc.). Please do not include these in your pitch or article.
